Wentelteefjes

The story of the red bus started 8 years ago. A tragic life event brought the best friend and the sister together and made them close friends. Ironically Roos and Laura didn't know each other for years even though Roos was the best friend of Laura's brother. When sadly he passed away he left something special for the girls, who they back then hardly knew each other.

The tragic brought them together, and Laura and Roos became very close friends. While remembering of the nice memories they came up with the idea of making wentelteefjes as streetfood. That was the old favourite of Laura's brother! So they quickly became very enthusiastic about it and customised their own food truck, contributing to his memory in a special way.

Since then they both left their day job and concentrating only they dream; which is to make this little bit forgotten delicacy popular again. And it looks like they are successful serving the dutch sweet eggy bread on festivals. During the day mainly for families and by the end of the day for those who crave for something sweet, something delicious.

Wentelteefjes

Wentelteefjes are the dutch version of French toast or let me call it eggy bread! It is mostly sweet, made of milk loaf or sweet raisin bread. The bread soaked in vanilla milk and egg then fried then browned in butter. But Laura and Roos make not just the sweet but savoury ones as well.

Laura and Roos are very happy about what they achieved so far, people remembering the tastes from their childhood so they became rather popular on festivals. They doing so well that recently at a festival they even sold out. Now they are thinking about the future. Plans of continuing and growing, and they told us that this summer will decide how to go further.
