Urban Herbs
It all started with one innocent rosemary bush and a flu. That's how the story of Stadskruid (Urban Gardeners) started. Being sick, Marien looked down to his neighbour's herbs and asked from some. Sometime later, over a warm tea they agreed on starting a gardening business.
The neighbours were so enthusiastic about their herbs that they deiced to also share it with others. Marien and Onno decided to get a piece of land in Rotterdam and started growing. Out of passion and hobby.
Onno de Moor is a management consultant but he gets up fresh and early every market day to work on the soil, dry the herbs, taking care of the packaging and storing. You can smell their herbs all through the market, fresh, green, aromatic. It really feels like standing on a field of herbs.
People often just step to their stand and admire the fresh herbs for minutes. Funnily Onno and Marien knows this reaction very well so they are not surprised by it.
It is even hard to list all their offer: different herbs, rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano, basil, parsley, dill, anise. Chopped fresh or dried carefully.
Find more information about Stadskruid on their webpage and Facebook page. We met them at Rotterdamse Oogst Market. Feel free to also order herbs online!
