A 1963 Volvo and his enthusiasm for coffee helped Frits Kers in a difficult moment. He worked in the cultural sector in Gouda but because of the recession his position discontinued. Luckily he had a year to plan ahead; so he prepared his car for a brand new journey.
Frits Kers is father of two children and as usually dutch are he is a coffee lover **. On their big family breakfasts even the kids drink and enjoy their father's black. But of course decaf.
The 1963 Volvo Amazon came randomly in his life and together with the love of coffee and it became the "Smaakvolvo" (Tastevolvo). It seemingly was a great decision because he is happy. He visits festivals, markets, events, talks to people and delights them with his coffee.
It is truly respectable what he said about his recent period of his life; "Usually you make decisions but sometimes others make them for you". Talk with him while waiting for the coffee, or even better while drinking it!
** According to the survey of Euromonitor an average dutch drinks 2,41 cups of coffee a day. Holland is the number one coffee drinker in Europe on the list of coffee drinkers.
